Third Thursday Adult Book Club – July 16 at 11:00 am –Tables by Adult FictionFor July it is Reader’s Choice.

 

Saturday, July 25 from Noon – 1 p.m. – Calling all armchair detectives! Join us for a monthly deep dive into dark tales, unsolved mysteries and page turning thrillers! July’s selection is, True Crime Addict: How I Lost Myself in the Mysterious Disappearance of Maura Murray by James Renner. Pick up your copy at the front desk!

Weekly Events
The Living Room Stitchers Club – Every Tuesday 10:30 a.m. – Noon – Whether you’re into knitting, crochet, quilting, or cross stitch, bring your project and enjoy good company. Beginners and experts alike are welcome!
Qigong with Joanna – Every Friday 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Join us for Qigong with Joanna every Friday at 9:30 am. Meetings will take place on the lawn or our downstairs community room. Qigong combines movement, breathing, and meditation to improve health, fitness, and well-being. 

Children's Events

Farmer’s Market Storytime – July 11 at 3:30 p.m. – Join us for a special Storytime at the Pilot Mountain Farmer’s Market. We will read a story and make clay friends to take home.

Market is located at 300 S. Key St., Pilot Mountain

Every Monday at 6 p.m. – Wear your P.J.s and hear a story! Pajama Storytime will take place upstairs in the children’s area.

Tuesdays at 4 p.m. – Come relax at the library and read Arlo a book!

July 8 – Michael Albert: Trash Art Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. – Michael Albert Brings his Modern Pop Art Experience for All Ages to Pilot Mountain NC this summer!! As part of his Summer Southern Pop Art Tour, American Pop Artist Michael Albert will be bringing his nationally known Cereal Box Collage Workshop to the Charles H. Stone Memorial Library on Wednesday July 8th for a Pop Art program from 1-3pm. 

He will lead his Hands-On Collage workshop where participants (Kids & parents) will have the chance to create their own masterpieces using Albert’s materials of choice, namely Cereal Boxes & other colorful cardboard packages including cookie boxes, cracker boxes, soda cartons & many other well known consumer brands. All participants will receive a free signed poster of one of Albert’s creations as a special gift for joining him in this creative art making session.

Multi-Generational Programs

Art Club – 1st Tuesday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m. – We will gather for an hour long art meet-up. We will try different mediums, styles and craft projects.

Summer Dinosaur Activities

  1. Visit the library to check out a dinosaur book!

  2. Go on a dinosaur hike and search for natural fossils.

  3. Try a food you’ve never had before. Are you an herbivore or a carnivore?

  4. Watch a dinosaur movie.

  5. Have a dinosaur themed dance party!

Anyone in need of food assistance may stop by and help themselves to anything in the box. Community members that want to help may stop by to restock the box. Thanks to Girl Scout Troop 02319 for sharing this with our community!
Community Room
The Warren J. Stone Community Room located on the basement level of the library is provided for the use and benefit of the entire community and is available to rent for parties, showers, weddings, reunions, social occasions, educational classes, meetings and training sessions.
North Carolina Room
The North Carolina Room holds a collection of historical and genealogical information from Pilot Mountain and surrounding areas.

Charles H. Stone Memorial Library Community Room Policy

The Warren J. Stone Community Room located on the basement level of the library is provided for the use and benefit of the entire community and is available to rent for parties, showers, weddings, reunions, other social occasions, educational classes, meetings and training sessions. Sales events that do not benefit the library are now allowed. The rental cost is $110.00 per day, $35.00 of which is refundable if the key is returned promptly and the room is properly cleaned and is undamaged. As with all the public buildings owned by the Town of Pilot Mountain, the following rules apply: no smoking, no alcoholic beverages and no firearms are allowed.

Please note that the library does not provide paper goods, waste can liners and cleaning supplies for private parties. Those renting the facility are expected to provide their own supplies. All persons renting the facility, and their guests, are required to use the resource in a respectful manner and to carefully observe the following checklist:

  • Remove all trash from the kitchen and restrooms. (Waste carts are located on the utility pad, outside the kitchen door.)
  • Replace all trash can liners.
  • Flush toilets and rinse sinks.
  • Remove items from the refrigerator and freezer.
  • Wash, dry and replace in their proper place all used kitchen items.
  • Wash all used tables and chairs (as needed).
  • Lay all used kitchen linens out on counters to dry. (Library staff will launder.)
  • Check the stove and oven to be certain they are off.
  • Remove all decorative items from the room.
  • Pull tape and crepe paper remnants from the walls and ceilings.
  • Sweep and mop the floors. (Brooms and mops are located in the electrical utility closet near the kitchen.)
  • Properly secure the room by locking both the kitchen utility pad door and the room entrance door.
  • Check the window for proper locking.
  • Turn off all lights in the room.
  • Leave stairwell and outside door lights on for security.
  • Promptly return the key to the library staff by the method instructed.
