What’s Happening at the Yadkin County Public Library

Children’s Programs

  • StoryWalks at Yadkin County Park (focus: picture books) and WIC Community Garden (focus: bilingual boardbooks)
  • STEAM & Stories (ages 0-5) has free play with STEM toys and STEM stories. First Thursday of every month. The last meeting will be on May 7 and be on hiatus for summer programming!
  • Preschool Storytime (ages 2-5) includes crafts, snack, stories, and play time! May 14 storytime will be Block Fest teaser with Smart Start of Yadkin County.  The last meeting will be on May 21 and be on hiatus for summer programming!
  • Kaleidoscope Play and Learn, by Smart Start of Yadkin County (ages 0-5) is on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Starting on June 2, Kaleidoscope Play and Learn will move to Yadkin County Park and begin at 9 a.m.
  • Homeschool Meet-Up (all ages). Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m. January 7 thru May 20. Activities can include sewing, crafts, history-themed crafts, STEM toys, guest speakers (e.g. Cooperative Extension, Beekeepers, etc.), Nintendo Switch gaming, board games, dramatic play, and literacy tools.

Special Events

Treat Retreat on May 7-21 from 4-5pm, for ages 13+.

Summer Fundraiser Book Sale during Yadkinville Community Yardsale May 16, 8am- 2pm. Library services available 9am-12pm.

Summer programming begins May 27 with MESStival at 10am in the library’s back parking lot. Vice Cream ice cream truck will be there. Rain date is May 28 at 10am.

Adult Programs

  • Partner’s Health – Thursday 5-6 p.m. No registration necessary.
    Returns May 7, 14, and 21 of 2026.
  • NC Works 2nd Friday; 9 a.m. – Noon. Job seekers get help with your job search in person. Second Friday of each month.

  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program: offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. A checklist of what to bring to your local VITA site can be found here.
