What’s Happening at the Yadkin County Public Library

The Yadkin County Public Library will be closed April 21, 2025 for Easter Monday.

Special Events

Color Our World Story Contest For children & adults. 

  • Story Deadline March 31
  • Voting deadline April 25
  • Winners announced April 28-30

Pick up your short story booklet from the library.
Winner will have their photo taken with Shirley Ericson author of Sophie’s Gifts on Saturday, May 3.

Astronomy Adventure and Stargazing at Memorial Park – Saturday, April 5, 7-11 p.m.

STEM space-themed activities from 7pm until sunset.
Telescope observation from sunset to 11pm.
If the library has to cancel (or move inside the library) the STEM activities due to heavy rain or severe weather, we will post on Facebook (click here).

If the Forsyth Astronomical Society is unable to see the night sky due to clouds/rain, they will cancel their portion by posting on their website. (click here)

  • Cozy on Up in NC Cardinal – Virtual book club (cozy mystery focus) via Amazon Book Clubs and Goodreads.
  • Medicare 101 with Heather Poindexter – Every first Monday from 10 – 11 a.m.
  • NC Works 2nd & 4th Friday; 9 a.m. – Noon. Job seekers get help with your job search in person. Second and fourth Fridays of each month.

Food Trucks, Egg Hunts, Petting Zoo and Photos with the Easter Bunny!

Children’s Programs

Healthy Kids Day!
April 26, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Smart Smart of Yadkin County & the Yadkin Family YMCA are hosting Healthy Kids Day. The library will be there along with many other local organizations!

  • StoryWalks at Yadkin County Park (focus: picture books) and WIC Community Garden (focus: bilingual boardbooks)
  • STEAM & Stories (ages 0-5) has free play with STEM toys and STEM stories. The first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m.
  • Preschool Storytime (ages 2-5) is on Thursdays at 10 a.m. (other than the first week of the month). Join us for stories, songs, crafts, and play time! 
  • Kaleidoscope Play & Learn (ages 0-5) The Kaleidoscope event for April 15 & 29 has been cancelled. Kaleidoscope has a special trip to Boonville Community Public Library on April 22.

  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program: offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
