- Silent Book Club – 3rd Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. Join our Facebook. Starting in May, Silent Book Club will be called YCPL Book Club and will be on temporary hiatus this summer.
- Cozy on Up in NC Cardinal – Virtual book club (cozy mystery focus) via Amazon Book Clubs and Goodreads.
- Medicare 101 with Heather Poindexter – Every first Monday from 10 – 11 a.m.
- NC Works 2nd & 4th Friday; 9 a.m. – Noon. Job seekers get help with your job search in person. Second and fourth Fridays of each month.
- May 28 – Aug 2 – 3rd Annual Pet Food Drive for Yadkin County Animal Shelter.
- June 11, 10am – Melt-and-Pour Soap-making with Chelsea Johnson from Yadkin County Cooperative Extension, held at the Yadkin County Agricultural Building Banquet Facility (2051 Agricultural Way). Cost $15. Registration required (click here) that ends on June 6, or when the max of 25 attendees is reached.
- June 12, 5pm – 80’s Murder Mystery (ages 18+) – up to 12 individuals or teams can compete to solve an ’80s murder mystery where the murder takes place at a charity event in Hollywood that is hosting the most iconic 1980’s celebrities. Feel free to dress up. We’ll have 80’s themed snacks, decor, and music! The prize for the person or team who solves the mystery will be a gift certificate to Smooches Ice Cream.
Children’s Programs
- StoryWalks at Yadkin County Park (focus: picture books) and WIC Community Garden (focus: bilingual boardbooks)
- STEAM & Stories (ages 0-5) has free play with STEM toys and STEM stories. The first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m.
- Preschool Storytime (ages 2-5) on hiatus until after summer programming ends and the Yadkin County school year starts back.
- Kaleidoscope Play & Learn (ages 0-5) Kaleidoscope Play and Learn’s last day at the library is on May 27. They move outdoors for the summer.
- Summer programming starts May 28 at 10 am with MESSitval.
Summer Program
- All summer learning programs start at 10 am, unless otherwise noted.
- Summer programs are for all ages, unless otherwise noted.
- All summer events are free to attend, except soap-making.
- All summer events are held at the library (inside or outside), except for June 4 (Yadkin Memorial Park at Lake Hampton) and June 11 (Banquet Facility on SCC Yadkin Campus).
- Supplies are first come, first serve.
- The only events that require registration are soap-making on June 11 and pinata making (date TBD).
- Any unexpected issues, such as a presenter cancelling, weather interfering, or a staff emergency will necessitate the advertised program changing to a movie, painting, and/or coloring activity held inside the library.
- Summer programs end with BINGO Finale on August 7 at 10am

- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program: offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
